Welcome to ECHO’s documentation!¶
ECHO is a drone-based system for calibrating wide-field radio arrays seeking to probe the Epoch of Reionization (EoR). The goal is to make accurate in-situ beam maps and incorporate this data into 21cm power spectrum analysis pipelines. For more details you can read the first demonstration of ECHO paper by Jacobs et al. 2017 here
This repository contains software used to generate flight plans, collect and reduce resulting data from a calibration run.
Workflow¶
Analysis of data from a calibration run involves three main steps:
Reading in transmitter position data and receiver spectrum
Interpolating receiver spectrum to drone flight times
Gridding data onto a healpix map
ECHO setup¶
Flight Path¶
ECHO follows a spherical shell flight pattern centered around the antenna under test as shown in the figure.
